Step 1: Create a profile on The Locker
Create an account on Rugby Canada’s Training & Education (T&E) site. Note, there is a one-time membership fee for registration on the site. The T&E site hosts registration for all Rugby Ontario NCCP Coaching Courses, as well as links to the World Rugby pre-course modules that must be completed prior to course registration and professional development session registration.
Coaches must create a profile on the Coaches Association of Canada’s Locker site to receive a NCCP number. A NCCP number is required to take a coaching course and tracks a coaches certification and professional development. To create a Locker profile and obtain a NCCP number, go to The Locker.
Once registered on the site you must complete all the required pre-course modules and upload the certificates you receive to your profile. Only after you have uploaded your module certificates, will the register button show for the course. Interested coaches should complete the Make Ethical Decisions Module, through the Coaches Association of Ontario.

FAQs
I’m a mini-rugby coach. Should I complete the WR Level 1 course?
No, the WR Level 1/NCCP Community Course does not need to be completed. The Rookie Rugby course will teach you everything you need to know and provide you with excellent resources to use through your season.
I’m an experienced rugby player who has assistant coached for several years, but I’ve never taken an NCCP or World Rugby course. Should I take the WR Level 2/Competition Introduction due to my experience levels?
You would benefit from taking the World Rugby Level 1/NCCP Community course for two reasons; the course is one-day and therefore easier to complete, and it introduces several concepts that are built upon in the next course, World Rugby Level 2/Competition Introduction. The World Rugby Level 2/Competition Introduction is a two-day course and some participants struggle with the volume of new concepts and immediate need to apply those concepts on course when the concepts are introduced.
I’d like to coach provincially. What course should I take?
You’d benefit from taking the World Rugby Level 1/NCCP Community course at your earliest opportunity, and then move into the World Rugby Level 2/Competition Introduction after receiving an appointment to a provincial team. Then, you’ll have more context and experience to apply in your learning in the two-day course.
There is a wealth of opportunity for learning in Ontario! Coaches can access courses that are part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and can also access World Rugby courses, too. The National Coaching Certification Program is internationally reknown and has been training coaches since 1974 in 65 different Canadian sports, including rugby.
