Rugby Ontario is Hiring Lead Coaches for Our Development Academy!

About the Role
As a Lead Coach, you’ll play a pivotal role in the growth and development of young athletes in our Development Academy. You will be responsible for guiding players through a carefully crafted program that aligns with Rugby Ontario’s goals and the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, ensuring that each player gets the support and mentorship they need to excel. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive rugby environment.

Key Responsibilities
Lead Coaches will be responsible for several key aspects of player and program development, including:

  • Program Development: Collaborating on age-appropriate training programs that are in line with the LTAD model, continuously assessing and adjusting the curriculum to meet the developmental needs of players.
  • Coaching & Training: Leading training sessions and match play, providing tactical and technical guidance while creating a positive learning environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Player Development: Identifying and nurturing young talent, providing personalized feedback, and adjusting training plans as needed. Coaches will also closely monitor player progress and engage with athletes to encourage growth on and off the field.
  • Collaboration: Working with fellow coaches, support staff, and volunteers to ensure a cohesive approach to player development. Regular engagement with parents and guardians is also required to keep them updated on player progress and academy activities.
  • Administration: Assisting in organizing training camps, workshops, and competitions, as well as maintaining accurate records of player performance and attendance.
  • Promotion of Rugby: Representing Rugby Ontario at events and community engagements, promoting the sport and its values. Coaches will also participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest coaching practices and rugby trends.

Locations
We’re hiring Lead Coaches for multiple locations across Ontario, including:

  • Guelph
  • Toronto
  • Eastern Ontario

What We’re Looking For
Rugby Ontario is seeking coaches with competitive-level experience and a passion for working with youth athletes. Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Experience: Prior coaching experience, preferably in rugby, with a strong understanding of youth athletes’ developmental needs.
  • Qualifications: Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., World Rugby Level 2 or higher), with First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and inspire athletes, and excellent organizational abilities.
