Child Protection Policy

This policy applies to any individual, whether in a paid or unpaid/ voluntary capacity, who interacts with children in rugby events and activities under the jurisdiction of Rugby Ontario. The story of rugby in Ontario is one of evolution. We are not the same organization we were a decade ago. We are not even the same organization we were two years ago.

To help shape this constant evolution, in 2021, we set out to reflect upon, and better understand, the challenges and needs of our membership. We also took into consideration external factors such as changing societal views, the broader provincial and national sporting environment, and evolving government sport policy to better inform our vision for the organization to 2025. We undertook a broad and deep consultation period that extended into early 2022 that included feedback from over 1000 members, leaders and stakeholders.

The purpose of the Rugby Ontario Governance Manual is to reference all documentation which collectively form Rugby Ontario’s governance structure, enable Rugby Ontario’s Board of Directors and membership to understand the complexity of the governance structure in terms of the inter-relationships between the Board and its multiple stakeholders; and provide clear guidance on the respective roles and responsibilities of the Board and the Rugby Ontario Office.
