2014 Ontario High School Fall Rugby Sevens Tournament Directory

Updated Sept. 26, 2014

Rugby Sevens is fast-paced and exciting for players and spectators.  Players require above-average speed and agility and strong ball-handling and decision-making skills.

Rugby Sevens is an official Pan Am Games and Olympic Games sport ( Toronto 2015, Rio de Janiero 2016 ).

Rugby Ontario and Rugby Canada are focused on developing Sevens players between now and 2016, including the IRB Sevens Series, the Pan Am Games ( Toronto 2015 ) and the recent Commonwealth Games ( Glasgow 2014 ).

Ontario HS Sevens is expanding every year.

Rugby Ontario organized fall HS Sevens tournament for many years up to 2012, however this was discontinued because of budget constraints.  Fortunately, the surge of Rugby Sevens popularity enabled a smooth transition to a new competitive model.

Schools are encouraged to organize regional tournaments through the fall season and provide tournament information to be posted on this web site.

Rugby Ontario will continue to provide support for HS Sevens by regularly updating the tournament directory and by assisting schools searching for competition.

Rugby Ontario will also continue to provide technical support for HS rugby Sevens and Fifteens with certification courses for coaches and referees and by organizing coaching symposiums.

We recognize the strength, and understand the importance, of HS rugby to the future of the sport province-wide.  There are more high schools with rugby programs in Ontario than the rest of Canada combined, with 430 + schools and about 25,000 players.

Rugby Ontario Junior Blues and Storm coaches will use HS tournaments for player identification for provincial team tryouts.  Provincial teams are the player pathway to national teams.

It is anticipated that more tournaments will be organized and these will be included in the directory when details are announced.

To have a tournament included in the directory, please contact directory coordinator Glenn Tarver:
