ONTARIO JUNIOR BLUES - U15 REGIONAL JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Rugby Ontario is pleased to provide further information on the 2014 Under-15 Male Regional Development Program.
There will be six regional teams across the province. Each team will consist of 25 players.
R1 – EASTERN
R4 – NORTHERN
R2 – CENTRAL
R5 – SOUTHERN
R3 – TORONTO
R6 – WESTERN
Each team will have 8 sessions:
- five (5) skill development sessions
- two (2) regional festival days
- one (1) provincial festival day
As there is no Rugby Ontario U14 Program in 2014, U14 players will also be considered for this program.
Regional Festival Days (September 13 and October 4)
On the two regional festival days, the six teams will be divided into two groups (East and West). The three teams from the East will play in one regional festival and the three in the West will play in another festival. The matches will be played at a central venue for those three regions.
Provincial Festival Day (October 25)
On the Provincial Festival Day, all six teams will come together and play in an all-day festival. They will be playing the teams from the regions they had not seen all year.
The focus of the festivals will be to evaluate the development of the athletes, from the skill sessions in a game situation. There will not be any regional champion crowned or medals awarded.
The program will commence in the last week of August. The regional skill development sessions are flexible to each team to be conducted at a time during that week most suitable to the other rugby activities in that region.
The program is:
Week #1 (start 23 Aug) - Skill development session (day varies by region)
Off Week (start 30 Aug) - No session (Labour Day long weekend)
Week #2 (start 6 Sep) - Skill development session (day varies by region)
Week #3 (Sat 13 Sep) - Regional Festivals (2 Festivals East & West)
Week #4 (start 20 Sep) - Skill development session (day varies by region)

The cost of the program for selected players will be $300. This includes team uniforms.
Athletes for this program will be identified throughout the summer while playing with their club team. Club coaches may be contacted to seek their input on potential players from their club. If necessary, in some regions, the first skill session maybe also be used as a trial to finalize the team.
Please note the regional teams are not based on Branch Union membership but rather on trying as much as possible to create even teams based on general geographic location.
The regional breakdown by club (based on clubs having players registered in the U15 and U14 age groups) is as follows:
REGION 1 EASTERN
REGION 2 CENTRAL
REGION 3 TORONTO
REGION 4 NORTHERN
Georgian Bay Titans
REGION 5 SOUTHERN
REGION 6 WESTERN
Highland Rugby Club (Fergus)
London St. George's
Stratford Black Swans

The days and venues for each of the regional skill development sessions and the venues for the Festival Days, will be announced in the near future.
